ABOUT BOOKS FOR HOPE

Books For Hope was a Senior Project idea proposed to me by my AP Literature teacher and by my mother. I knew I wanted to do something revolving around reading and donating, but I couldn't exactly figure out what. Once the idea was proposed to me, I instantly fell in love with it. The thought of meeting with a group of kids who were interested in reading just to talk about books made me ecstatic.

In the fall, I will be going to college to study secondary education with the focus of English. Not only will this book club give me experience in the field of working with kids, it will also expand my horizons and force me out of my comfort zone.

My goal for Books For Hope is to not only bring books to kids who don't have much, but to also bring diversity in those books. Not every person in the world is a white, straight, middle-class family man. I'd like to change it up for the kids I'd work with and bring in books with diverse characters who they could possibly relate to.

Some of my diverse topics include:
  • Race

  • Religion

  • Sexuality

  • Gender

  • Ethnicity

  • Social Class
